2.5kW Off Grid Solar/Wind Hybrid System
This is identical to the 1.5kW Solar electric system with the addition of a Whisper 200 wind generater. We added a wind generater to our solar electric system to get us through the winter time. The system includes charge controller and display, along with a 40' tower kit and necessary breakers. We have been very happy with the performance of the wind generater gaining on average 3.5kWh's per day between October and May. We have all the appliances of a modern 2000 sqft house serving a family of four: microwave, washer, dryer, fridge, chest freezer, toaster, stereos, VCR's/DVD's, two laptops on wireless internet, satellite etc. Our battery bank of 12 batteries holds the equivalent of 27 kWh's. Each day we use 6 kWhs on average. We have a 3 day storage capacity, although we generally watched the weather and adjust our usage accordingly. We run the PV array in at a nominal 72v to the MX60 charge controller then its stepped down to our 24v system voltage. The wind generater comes into its own charge controller and converts the voltage for our 24v battery bank. The tower kit comes with guyed wires cut to length and pipe connectors and base assembly. The 3 pole breaker is positioned at the base of the tower and used for disconnect purposes.
This system comes with an Outback Flexware 500 pre-wired power panel with installed inverter and charge controller. The mounts included are the Unirac mounts for mounting flush to roof line. Other mounting options are available including ground mounts (Shown in photo attached to high level beams) or trackers (to increase output of panels during a day by up to 30%)
The inverter is a pure sine wave Vented VFX3524. (The vented version of the outback inverters give more charging amps than the non vented FX versions) We have been using the single inverter setup for 10 years and have never gone over using 2000w combined. At some point we would like to have an additonal inverter just for piece of mind in the event service is required to our existing inverter. We have included additional inverter option below which includes new inverter breaker and HUB-4 to connect inverters. This is installed price below.
We use our AC side of the power panel as a AC distribution box with breakers to each circuit in our house. If you are sure that another inverter would not be required for your needs and you run the AC output into a regular mains breaker box then we can reduce cost by using a pre-wired power panel for a single inverter such as those by Midnite solar and FlexOne units. Give us a call if you would like to discuss further.
Ships by truck freight.

Why a Packaged System?
The process of choosing the right equipment for your renewable energy system can sometimes become overwhelming. That's why The Solar Store has put together a variety of pre-packaged systems balanced for typical residential use. These can be used as a starting place when working with us to design a system that best meets your particular needs.
Can I Upgrade or Expand?
All of our pre-packaged systems feature a central "power panel." Any power panel that is purchased with a single inverter can be upgraded by purchasing another identical inverter and DC breaker sometime in the future. Another charge controller and breaker can also be installed at a later date if you want to expand your PV array. PV arrays can be expanded by purchasing identical or equivalent modules.
